My name is Sandra Madia and I am Marquise Bichons. Most folks just call me Sandy.

I have been showing and breeding Bichon Frise on a limited basis since 1992!

Way back in 1991 I decided I wanted a cute little Bichon as a companion for just me. My son and daughter had grown up and moved out and my daughter had taken her Bichon, Angel, with her. I really missed little Angel and decided to buy a Bichon Frise for me.

Well, the puppy I fell in love with was a “Show Potential” puppy. But I wanted her anyway. And, I decided I could make the time to do this “show thing” once and it might just be fun. She’ll get her championship and then that’ll be IT!

Sheena was a fun dog to show and quickly became my best friend. After she became CH Diamant’s Jungle Gardenia I was encouraged to breed her and have a litter. Well, OK, just once will be OK and then that’ll be IT! My maternal instincts kicked in when those puppies arrived and I was hooked. I just loved those little puppies – and felt such a sense of responsibility and awe. When they went to their homes, I knew this was the hobby for me. Showing, producing beautiful puppies, being surrounded by loving wonderful Bichons and making so many friends ……. the rest is history.

I have shown my dogs in Canada, in the United States and at International shows. My other best known dogs are Madison, Crissy, Delilah and Dazzle. I am a member of and Recording Secretary for the Bichon Frise Club of America. I am also a member of the Bichon Frise Club of Canada and the Canadian Kennel Club. In addition to this wonderful Bichon Frise life, I work full time as President of a medical billing company called M/D Systems, Inc. I work close to home and have dog sitters and care takers that help with my precocious powder puff family.

I am extremely concerned about the health of this wonderful breed and all of my Bichons are checked routinely for cataracts, patellae, hips and gum disease. They get regular physical exams and blood tests to insure their ongoing health. I also am very strict regarding potential dogs I would breed to and expect their health background to be sound and documented and their conformation to be in line with the breed standard.

I live in a house in Sherman Oaks ( San Fernando Valley) California. I have three wonderful Bichon girls living with me now. They are all Champions and two of the three have had litters and are now spayed and ruling the house. Dazzle, the newest champion, will be the next Mommy.
